Therapeutic, education-led learning pathways for children and young people who need something different.

For some learners, re-engagement begins through creativity. As part of our provision, we offer structured arts-based learning that supports confidence, emotional expression, and engagement, delivered within a clear educational and safeguarding framework.

Learners can access curriculum-aligned learning in English, maths, and other core subjects, including Functional Skills, GCSEs, or equivalent pathways. Teaching is flexible and paced to support continuity of education alongside emotional regulation and engagement.

Where appropriate, digital learning tools are used within our provision to support access, consistency, and flexibility. All learning remains human-led, therapeutically informed, and closely monitored, with clear safeguarding and escalation processes in place.
KCL provides therapeutic, education-led learning pathways for children and young people who need something different. We support engagement, emotional regulation, and meaningful progress — whether learning takes place alongside school or through alternative provision.

At KCL, we specialise in supporting learners who find mainstream education challenging. Our work is education-led and therapeutically informed, focused on helping learners regulate emotions, rebuild confidence, and re-engage with learning in a way that is sustainable and appropriate to their needs.

Learning at KCL is grounded in educational outcomes, supported by therapeutic principles that recognise the impact of anxiety, disengagement, and emotional barriers. This ensures learning remains purposeful while feeling manageable for each learner.

Our environments are predictable, low-arousal, and carefully structured to support emotional regulation and engagement. This consistency helps learners feel safe, reduces overwhelm, and supports readiness to learn.

Every learner follows a personalised pathway shaped around their needs, progress, and circumstances. Pathways may run alongside school or through alternative provision and are reviewed regularly as needs change.
